Chef Hemmi was born and raised in Tokyo Japan, and began his culinary career at age eighteen. He was accepted into Hattori Cooking School- the top culinary school in Japan. Upon graduating he began his apprenticeship under Master Chef Watanabe in Tokyo.
Chef Hemmi came to America in 1999, where he immediately made a name for himself in the Japanese culinary scene, and in 2003 he joined the Ringo team. He was honored by Food and Wine Magazine as the Most Innovative Sushi Chef in Chicago in September 2005.
Chef Hemmi is again boasting his cooking talents at the new Ringo with authentic Japanese dishes and sushi.
